Our toy designs are artist-inspired and created after careful observation of our own flock. The prototypes are given to the appropriately sized birds. Changes and modifications are made based on their reactions. Production begins after approval by our "Bird of Directors". We use only the finest (and safest) of products to manufacture all of the toys that we sell. The hardwoods we use range from very common to exotic. All coloring is FD&C approved, rope is 100% natural cotton or sisal (no synthetics), chains are close-welded, only safe quick-link fasteners are used, and all leather is vegetable tanned. Of course, the most important safety component of any toy is you - the human parent. Trimming frayed rope ends, trimming sharp toenails, removing toys that have been destroyed except for the hardware, cleaning toys that the bird wants to buy (having left a deposit on them) and observing playtime are all part of being a responsible Parrot Parent. All of our toys are handmade and therefore vary slightly. Colors change on a regular basis to keep things from getting boring. We are constantly improving toys. If we find a way to make a toy more appealing- we do it! New toys are added on a regular basis. Our toys are made for birds by bird lovers. We welcome your suggestions or comments. |

City Scene Bird Toys was started as a matter
of necessity. Jake, our Greenwinged Macaw, was destroying toys faster than we could buy them. We
tried our hand at making our own toys that were different than
what was currently available, but that would still hold
Jake's interest. His eager acceptance of the toys
we made led us to create models for the
other members of our avian family. Family and friends encouraged us to expand
beyond our
own flock and in 1993, City Scene was born.
By the way, any similarity between the name of our
company and the word 'Psittacine' (the name of the
taxonomic order for all parrots) is purely pun-intentional.
